Welcome to 2007!

Welcome to 2007!

It's just about that time to pull those cars out of storage and get them ready to race! In a few short months we'll be back on the pavement and warming up the tires! I, for one, am really very excited as this year looks to be one of the best ones in a long time. I'm working on filling out the regional events schedule, and already we have more events planned for '07 then we had in '06. And that's from only two regions! If anyone out there has any events you want posted, please send that info over to me so I can get it posted.

We would like to welcome the Eastern Buckeye region back into competition this year! It's nice to have you all back!

The tentative schedule for this year has been posted here, and the minutes for Annual Board meeting can be downloaded here (.doc). Please, remember to sign up for the Mailing List. Results will no longer be mailed out via snail mail.

IRAC II this weekend!

IRAC 2 is this weekend!

Well, I hope I'm not the only one looking forward to IRAC II this weekend, June 12th, hosted by NOR. I'm so excited that I even updated the schedule (gasp!). If anyone is interested in saving some time at registration, you can print off the registration form ahead of time. For anyone that hasn't been to an autocross at Lakeland, it's a smooth piece of pavement--that combined with John Hulick's course design should make for a fun day of driving.

If anyone is coming early from out of town, Les Checel has scheduled a pre-race diner gathering at the Pearl of the Orient restaurant in Shaker Heights the night before (Saturday June 17th). Anyone up for some high class chinese food should come up, it'll save you that early morning drive everyone hates so much.

Work, Work, Work!

Work, Work, Work .

Well, Autocross season is almost upon us, and it appears that I haven't been updating this place as much as promised. In fact, I have been working harder on this site than I have on any other! You just can't see my masterpiece yet! When I threw up this page I did it pretty sloppily, my intent has been to get the infrastructure up before I worried about populating it with content and making it 'pretty'. It would seem that either I have too high of standards, or I overestimated myself-- I'm having some trouble getting everything just right.
Here's what I've got cooking: I'm building a custom database and scripting package to manage our race results. It will have profile pages for each driver and dynamically updated event pages where users can browse past events and current standings. It should be easy to update and even easier to distribute. Problem is that I've never taken on such a custom job. Needless to say its taking a little longer than expected, but hopefully it will be worth the wait. One reason I wanted to take on the task of building the site was it would force me to push myself to a new level of programming. That, for sure, has been the case.
Other plans for the site include a newsletter system to replace the old hard-copy mailer and a survey system to gather feedback on how the Club is meeting the needs of the drivers. We're slowly making progress, so try to hang in there. I assure you all this will eventually become a world class site. For now, I encourage you to register on the forum and check out the newly updated schedule. Thanks for your patience.

Important update - Helmets and Tires

Important Seasonal Info...
Now this could be the coolest news in IRAC history.... This year we will be giving away a brand new set of tires! Everyone that competes in at least 4 official IRAC events this season will be entered into a drawing for a gift certificate to the Tire Rack. Official rules will be posted in the forum and the rules section soon. In order to help support this contest, please consider buying your your tires this year by clicking on this link to the Tire Rack.
As some people may be aware, the IRAC rules now require a Snell or M helmet rating of 2000 or newer. We anticipate that many members will have to buy new helmets this season. Andy Helgeson has set up a deal with Linda at Apex Performance about a discount for helmets. She will give us a 10% discount on all things on their web site except ATE brake fluids, G-force Products and Gift Certificates. We don't have to buy in a big group but can buy individually. The discount is valid for purchases over $150 through Dec 31, 2006. You will need a promo-code, which is available here.

Welcome Race Fans - General Update

Welcome Race Fans...
Well, we're finally making some progress here on the official website of the IRAC. Please hang in there while I finish the design up. Just to keep everyone in the loop, I am expecting to have the main structure of the site up by the middle of next week (Feb 15ish). This will include most of the informative and reference pages along with a few script-based pages. One of these pages is the forum, which is already up and running (in version 1.0).
